Sky aflame with whispered names
stuttered verse reverberates around broken picture frames
whilst on the radio Isaak sings of wicked games
unchained melodies, memories bound again
that blue monday when the storms came
memory stained
country lanes we forgot to travel
knots of history
never fully unravel
As lost in the dark
as we could ever be
the path nowhere to be seen
running up that hill
the grass and mud sucking
as we tried to turn in retreat
but on my face, I fell at your feet
wet ground embraces
as the devil paces, under that haunting moon
humming his frightful tune
Like the cover of a meatloaf record
bats obscure the view
blackening the moon
Out of hell demonic wails, as if born anew
flapping wings to the sound of hate
then, like a ghostly vision, began to evaporate
disappearing into the dark black night
like ashes to ashes the stars blinked out of sight
notes of history, no longer twinkling
forever lost to that lonely old midnight moon sinking
We were young, love was a battlefield
entrenched in no man's land...
two tribes, too late for goodbyes
talking 'bout a revolution
but everyone wants to rule the world
before hope dies, like a bird of paradise
we fought the law, but sought rapport
A way forward, like a prayer
atomic blared from the speakers
The feeling of a million hearts breaking as one
our sonic hill to die upon
arsenic pill to dine on
Instead of rainbows could only see in red
and boys don't cry they said
but tears welled in bleach vision eyes
a total eclipse of the heart
plunged into darkness
as love tore us apart
but you were walking on the moon
I was howling...
hungry like the wolf
I was living on a prayer,
was all too much, too soon
instead of dreams I found nightmares
under pressure, under killing moon
careless whispers floated in the air tonight
left my memories tainted
love felt feint and deflated
time after time, where is my mind I'd ask
with or without you, I was back in black
on the road to nowhere, too messed up to care
Thanks For Reading,
Peace, Love and Poetry.
Kyle.
