Reach the stars

Can you feel the night?
taste the magic of a comet in flight
touch the music, does it inspire insight
fly to the stars with me in an interstellar galactic joyride

Can you breathe the life?
trace the smiles with closed eyes
draw the night, painting stories with your mind
feel the passion of electric lights flaring through dull skies

Fly with me, we can take the next trip to the moon.
on a rocket ship of our design, let us sing a lunar sailors tune
we can explore the wonders as shooting stars soar
two hearts beating - we dance on worlds never visited before

Come, take a trip with me to a faraway world called destiny
you and I written in stars, it was plain to see
we can watch the two suns rising
as the golden moons dance on the horizon

Let's just coast through the clouds until we find a place
where the air is filled with a sweet taste
a world with colours never witnessed by human eyes
where love lives and hate dies

On this journey of a lifetime will you be my lifeline
my oxygen supply in the cold void of space
will I be all you asked for, can we let go and create a story so fine
will I be your guide? pointing the way to new worlds to embrace

If we sail to the stars, or just sit and observe
will you open your heart to the love that you deserve?
or will you ridicule me for having the nerve
of asking you to explore new inner worlds

For when I look in your eyes, I see a universe with so much to explore
when I hear you talk, I'm taken to a planet in a distant galaxy
where we could be surrounded by alien sounds, but my ears only hear the words you say
when we sit in silence my heart wants to beat out the rhythm of stars millions of miles apart
An orchestra of twinkling broken hearts
when I lie awake you enter my head
and any fear of the dark is replaced with a fear of spending our lives not living instead
I fear for a future where you are on another world
and I am left looking to the stars, at the universe unfurled

I ask for one word, a message in a bottle
to cross the oceans in my mind, for on this island that I stand.
just me and the palm tree for company, I bide my time
I question will you come with me, sail to mars
reply with a kiss in word form, a moment of joy and hope
a single word with which we can visit the places seen only with a telescope
reply with yes and we will take to the stars

Invisible disease Now with added video!!!!

People fail to see
the long-term damage of the invisible disease
like a poltergeist floating free, it plays on your anxieties
by throwing bad thoughts through your head
where once cups flowed with goals and objectives
now they smash against the walls instead
crashing until you feel dejected, deflated full of self-hatred

No-one speaks of the invisible anguish
where inside words repeat in some long-forgotten language
like a parasite feeding on your self-doubt
then repeating the sounds in a loop thereout
like a parasite feeding on your self-doubt
then repeating the sounds in a loop thereout
like a parasite feeding...

Nobody can see your internal struggle
each a different set of infernal fires over which to hurdle
it can be the smallest crack that causes the walls to collapse
whilst the bigger things are merely a setback
an asteroid smashing the planet in two
just a tiny problem easily fixed with some superglue
but words spoken in a crowded room can be devastating
turning your heart to stone, burying it in a hole of self-rating

They fail to sense the intense self-hate that you navigate day by day
just seeing the smile that you paint, a pretence that all is okay
all the while your mind is wailing
curses telling you to listen to the doubts, the words cascading
every term of hate they shout
you take it all in, let it sink under blemished skin
that’s what the voices are yelling

The long-term damage of this venomous muse
the invisible disease keeps on poisoning you
words just sent to taunt
laugh and point
shouted into both ears, loud and clear
they want you to fall to the floor cowering in fear
belittling all that you have achieved
don’t listen to the words that you receive
stand proud, for no one knows your story
how you're walking free after a life in purgatory

Headfirst into the Storm (Now With Video)

Some days you run - headfirst into the rain
the stream of stinging cold agony
against a face already filled with pain
you let it hit you between the eyes
across the brows
over the nose and mouth
like a gag worn to stop the cries from falling out
each freezing strike like the blade of a knife
cutting deep into the flesh of your life

And you let it soak you

Chilling your bones, let it saturate your clothes
until it pulls you down
a leaden weight on feet that already ache
from too much running down dead-end alleyways

Sometimes you enter the storm, trying to reach the eye, the calm
you run, you cry, letting tears join the downpour
searching in vain for a place that is less like a hurricane
more like a breeze in a summer glade
as the thunderous roar drowns the sound in your tired mind
you hit the wall
the impact of a gale force wind blowing you off track
until you can’t move forward, one step will push you all the way back

Some days the wild ferocious winds send you flailing
head in a spin from the howling, winds whistling and wailing
it hurls abuse in your face, so much hate
hits you with hail that crashes your senses
smashes down the walls built to defend us
knocks down the barriers and fences, we stand helpless

Sometimes we take a walk through the debris strewn floodplains
bruised again, by the onslaught
caught up in the downpour, the constant roar
as we beg for help to come forward
whilst sighing silently inwards
as no one comes searching, through the slate like view
a sky filled with the agony and misery, of the rains washing through

Sometimes you reach the calm...
where the sun cracks through
a silver lined sky shines down on you
you know that the calm only lasts for a brief time
but the quiet is sublime
the peace and love lift the spirits
just enough to make the oncoming storm feel like a walk in the park
not a hellish nightmare run through the dark
