Seasons - Book Review

Just Recieved this review from the lovely people at Realistic Poetry International

Kyle Coare's Seasons

Reviewed by Realistic Poetry International

Author Kyle Coare is an exquisite Poet and Word Artist that truly knows how to bring words and the world to life through poetry, and this collection of animated poems is more than proof! Layered with marvelous scenes of different phenomena of our great physical world such as landscapes, plants, wildlife, natural forces, and other captivating elements to complement the theme, Kyle creatively uses the seasons and some of their most notable qualities and characteristics to describe reality, people, and experiences. And despite what poem we may be reading and its central topic, the energy of his verses radiates with various images of emotion and plenty of zestful scenes complete with action, like in the featured poem, "Summer Rains."

Reviewers Highlights (1)

“Summer Rains”
Capturing the seasonal theme of this book flawlessly, we bask in the invigorating feeling of wet weather as we focus in on the spellbinding magic of harmless sky showers from up above, relishing in its touch to our skin as we imagine dancing to its unique melody as “waters start to ripple under raindrops,” sprinkling and cleansing us in its crystal drops of heaven's dew! Author Kyle Coare goes on to explain how not only we, human beings, enjoy this seasonal blessing, but also explains how even Mother Nature herself praises this essential phenomenon saying, "the way flowers sway dancing in the breeze..." Using the flowers to symbolize harmony, delight, and happiness.
With a pleasant and intrinsic upbeat tone, we enjoy the smooth and soothing ambiance this poem sets us in, and furthermore smile at the obvious love and appreciation Author Coare exemplifies for nature through his poetry, a beautiful reflection of the Author himself! In fact, Coare’s placid, candid, dreamy, and graceful personality shines through quite vividly throughout this entire collection, revealing his winsome ability to freely convey affection, love, devotion, and desire, four highly important attributes to any true love or relationship.
One of our favorite poems to highlight this is entitled, “Rearrange The Stars.”

Reviewers Highlights (2)

“Rearrange The Stars”
The type of love most probably visualize in their fantasies or dreams, is a great way to sum up this masterpiece built of pure blissful ardor and the sparkling gold of his unconditional heart! Truthfully, any reasonable woman who understands the value of love and how much it means for a man to actually express it, boldly, with such sincerity, will absolutely sink into this poem’s comforting bed of promises - easier than quicksand! But - indeed, the submission would be well worth it...and we can’t guarantee that this poetic love-bomb won’t take your breath away! So, warning to readers: Shield your hearts and be prepared for the most beauteous images of true love before turning the next page with this one!

A classic, common, and notable subject, the power of absolute love ushers us into a world where sparks fly and skies glow with the mystical after-mist of shooting stars. This poem prompts us to ask: Is love overrated, as some may explain?
Surely, when it comes to love every heart is unique, nonetheless, we strongly believe this poem is a glorious reminder of just exactly why some may say that it is.
In this piece, Author Kyle Coare doesn’t relent in expelling his heart’s contents, which clearly spell out the meaning of, ‘in love’ and ‘true love,'' as he thrives off the deep admiration and endearment he feels for this special someone his heart adores, so much, that he will even attempt to rearrange the stars to go over and beyond to prove and display his piety! Why would anyone with a heart reject this powerful kind of love in their life?
One of our favorite and signature verses from this piece says;

“I would climb to space, rearrange the stars
Spell out words from the heart
To sparkle on your eyes below
To light up the sky with love on show…”
Then, towards the poem’s conclusion he says;
“I’d move rivers until they spell out a special verse
A poem that you can traverse…”

Saying this seemingly to testify to his own limits of unwavering devotion, which in reality, is limitless. The thought of this kind of love has an intoxicating effect on the heart and would honestly probably leave even a frowning Grinch starry-eyed!

As with this poem, we encounter many others alike that do a superb job at bringing out the Author’s talent and gift of storytelling as in the following poem, “A Leaf in the Autumn Breeze; a poem that illustrates a journey of freedom by merely the image/symbol of a leaf (nature), ” speaking directly to readers through the artistic language of metaphors, imagery, and similes as provided in the following verse and example;

“Across grand expanses the leaf advances
Like it’s on a wave in a vast ocean
Glides in magical dances,
Under the beauty of the sky, always in motion.”

In its simplest form, one sees a leaf; one that floats like a flower’s petals in the wind, flutters like a butterfly, and drifts like a sailboat across the sea, in a sense, indicating a strong expression or form of freedom, voyage, and liberation, which can essentially be connected and interlinked in a literal manner to a specific journey, emotion, or personality.

Organized and well laid-out, reader’s will experience the rush of each season while traveling through its pages, from summer to winter, to spring to fall, in which we realize just how well life and people mirror the concept and cycle of the seasons and how they change (also how their moods and atmospheres artistically reflect humans and our reactions/patterns), whether it is a season of hot, zealous passion (indicating summer) or a time of painful winter ice-cold (indicating winter), the poems in this book are remarkable stories of the emotive and humanistic
characteristics the world around us portray; rebirth (spring); passion (summer); golden dreams (autumn); wastelands of ice ( winter).

This book is definitely one of our favorites from the Author and we are glad to present it with a 5-star rating. Author Kyle Coare is both an artist and a poet in this collection, creating specially for the heart, mind, body, and soul. Beautiful work, Kyle!

Soundtrack

The sound of music, a memory jolt
brings emotion to the surface, as feelings take hold
the songs can take you on a joyride
back into the mists of a life lived side by side
the words that blur into the mixtape of the mind
a soundtrack of lost days, weeks we can no longer find

Songs that blend and entwine, an orchestra of headlights
the finest wine drunk on those summer time nights
the reverberating tunes that break through the wall of memory
like snippets of dreams, scene by scene played out in front of me
the music brings back so much joy, love and hope
it also dredges feelings of despair and woe, the soundtrack to a downward slope

A song can remind of those summer time hues, the golden views
love as comforting as worn in shoes, love with you, true in review?
A song can stir the pot of memory stew, bring it to a simmer
can remind you of those long ago nights, the candlelight dinners
A song can take you to hell and back, with reminders of vicious attacks
those night where you wanted to fight, a song reminds of the cracks

Music holds magic, it can take you on a journey
to worlds long forgotten; places left blurry
the sounds can lift you higher than any plane in the sky
can also drop you lower than any tunnel we can travel by
the tune can remind of love lost and found, of loves golden sounds
but it can also unearth dead thoughts, buried deep underground
those shattered remnants of a heart smashed and broken
music can reawaken thoughts left unspoken

The Four Clowns of the Apocalypse

Ride the bumpy paths, sail unsettled seas
four horsemen by our sides, the feeling of unease
the drums blare, the gun muzzles flare
the end times approaching, but does anybody care?

The rivers run crimson, seas bleed red
seasons keep changing, as the population shake their heads
the whistle of a bullet, should have read the history books
winds of hell rise forth, should have seen the clowns vicious looks

They bare their razor sharp teeth
the smiles painted to hide the sinister knives beneath
lunacy, the buffoons that rule our seas, our lands mearly make belief
confuse the crowd to follow blind, sheep following the fox for some relief

The jokes on us, the clowns set us up
made to slip on a banana skin rug
the custard pie laced with tears and lies
thrown in the face of the land they really despise

The end is nigh, we cry oh why?
The end is here, they cheer, we fear
The end has come, they laugh we run
the end has only just begun, turn around before they fire the guns
the end has gone, so long, pray the clowns haven't won

English Rose

A rose petal falls but no one sees
the blood red droplet of that old disease
lost love and turbulent heartache seas
the waves tear up an English beach

That one lone petal; once a flower in bloom
now just a sad remnant of a life lost too soon
those hearts; taken before their days
the memories that stay, stories of English ways

The rose bleeds on the soil below
rain washed, the colours flow
no longer a beacon of hope
the English rose on a downward slope

Not part of the grand bouquet
the rose tried to stand alone in a dead field of clay
The last song on an English autumn day
when we wave goodbye to the chance to stay

The English rose from their beds
reminders of yesterdays parties and sore heads
left alone on the open seas
just an island with no hopes and dreams

When you walk

When you walk that long road
you are never alone, I'll be with you in the shadow
near or far, my heart breaks through the lake of ice scars
to hold your hand in mine under bright stars

When you feel lost, I'll find you
in dark woods, shrubs and bushes I'll crawl through
forests of night, ill winds and scary thoughts that bite
I'll hold your hand and together we will fight

When you are lonely don't fret, or fear the beasts you might meet
never far from my thoughts, together we will own the street
the monsters will walk away, darkness will give way to a sunny day
when we walk through fields of grey, the colours will be rainbow shaded in our wake

When you feel like life is hell
take a walk in this heaven I see
we can break through all bad spells
singing a song of love and harmony

When the world leaves you beaten, bruised, stressed and confused
I'll be there to listen to you, let you work through the blues
take your hand and show you the true life that shines
under the dark layer of grime, just needs a polish sometimes

When you don't know which way to turn, too many choices to make
arrows are pointing every direction, except the road you want to take
I'll walk with you to find the way past the diversion
however long the journey, we can turn any trial into an excursion

Silence

It's the silence that kills
cold fingers down the spine chill
ice tinged, tear soaked pillow on skin
that's when the voices begin

It's the silence that hurts the most
clouds the room, its deepening gloom chokes
like a fog, a menacing smog that cant be escaped
takes your thoughts and returns them mishaped

It's the silence that stings, crawls on your skin
like insects just digging, digging, digging
can feel their chattering, as they gnaw at the bones
a cacophony, a symphony of silent tones

It's the silence that calls, when you're all alone
it screams in your ears, in a nonvocal moan
deafening vibrations that click the switch
flicked into off, the brain starts to itch
the silent swarm surrounds, you feel your skin twitch
as your thoughts shift, an internal memory glitch

It's the silence that invades, when night falls
loneliness, as a heart choked of love stalls
the sound of a million cracks on the surface
as inside the splinters take purchase
the sound of a million words said in earnest
locked in a soundless cell to stall in the air wordless

Paper lies

Work till you drop
no time to stop
fill your wallets with paper lies
that you can swap for merchandise
trade your life for a quick fix
a moment of escape from the conflicts

Consume, you're just another victim of the system
assume the role that they affix, ignore the symptoms
presume that what they say is right, never explore the whys
until the gloom fills the void and your left choking on the lies

Force fed the notion, that promotion is the only pathway
that to be worthy you must be wealthy, top of the hill come payday
that they only things that matter are golden geese
not the empty thoughts of hope and peace
love and open seas, lands where we can live free
these thoughts matter not, to the people that be

Slaves to the hive mind, paper purchases power
as the buzz of the unkind swarm surrounds by the hour
it stings when the cash cow runs dry
when golden bank notes are shown to be just paper lies

Along The Fosse Way

Along the Fosse way
Romans walked their paths back in the day
we chase histories
car park kings and mystery
in this our city, always the same
Semper Eadem, Leicester its name

Passing the guildhall, the cathedral high and tall
a short stint through the market stalls
towards the clock tower where we congregate
under the gaze of De Montfort, the perfect place to meet our mates
then the night is ours
a world alive with clubs and bars
To dance until the sun rises
over the high cross, where shoppers search out new surprises

The old cobbled lanes, still some remain
places where time stood still, the sands in the hourglass never drain
in days gone by horse drawn carts would stroll past
or the bygone tramlines that didn't last
the old gateways, the city walls that used to stand
now just ruins, falling to the clocks turning hands
The buildings that shape our city, ever the same
just the window dressings that change

A city of joy, vibrant bright, like golden flames
a city of love, hope and open arms, this we proclaim
a place of diversity, four continents on one street
a place of dreams, to believe in the futures we seek
our city of golden miles, the city smiles
the centre of our land, one that shines throughout its trials
This city of hope, this place that I roam
Leicester always the same, this city I call home.

Foundations

Immigration, A scary word for those of a right wing persuasion
but it formed the foundations, built this nation
sowed the seeds that grew into trees
that blossomed into forests that please

Not an invasion or a march into our lands
from distant shores, different sands
they were never ours to begin, we just planted our flags; claimed them as owned
named the soil as home, devoured the fruit and the beasts that roamed

Segregation a sterile nation
a notion of hope delivered a quick castration
a newsnight soundbite, a clever catchy headline
for the newspaper print to deliver in double time

They want us divided, holed up in our walled in surroundings
they forget the history of the countries founding
a prison now, no one can enter or leave
a dry heave, a sick taste in my throat, a scary life to lead

You create enemies at our doors, at our windows staring in
but look in a mirror, the true enemy is within
hate is ignorance, education our only hope
lets lays some new foundations give the country a way to cope
for this land is one full of joy, a global village that we can all call home
a place where no one should be punished for where they were born,
or shown the door for sharing the culture they own

This land of blooming flowers, a sea of hope
a ray of sunshine, a land of scope
don't look at the world with sinister mistrusting eyes
or distrust your neighbours for just living their lives
be part of the world we share
you will find a land of love and care.

Dressed in black

In the rear view, where I leave you
way off in the distance, a vision I hope doesn't come true
dressed in black, scythe by your side
used up ten of my nine lives, but I wont hide

I see you in the mirror, stalking my shadow
getting nearer, ready for your cameo
at the final curtain of my life's movie
but I'm not ready for the credits yet
the world is just showing its beauty

Looking back I see your intense stare, waving back as if you care
a reminder of days when I was bitter, broken and barely even there
when words were better left unsaid, when the moon bled blood red
I should be dead, that's what you said

I see you on the horizon, my old adversary
you showed me mercy, but I wont stand stationary
for I know its only temporary
and I'm not ready to be buried so I stay wary

Screams in the night

Clinging to tear soaked pillows
clenched to my head to still the screams
scratching around this mental prison, a prism of the schisms of the minds bad dreams
ill minds lie awake, under dim electric light
the halls erupt, corroded thoughts swarm the corridors as screams fill the night

The sound of a million shutters dropping, the noise of a thousand breakdowns
the commotion of a brain in an explosive flood of thoughts, sent to make it drown
wails of the unwell, frail inmates of this unlocked holding cell
screeches of terror, trying to flee the night fevers, the screams of the night demons
the growl of hell, in this place that's supposed to make you feel well

I clench my teeth against the noise
sounds like a hive of bees, or swarming wasps sent to destroy
the agony of a mind in fight, in flight, away surfing in the darkening seas
the halls alive in the dead of night, it thrives on the unease
the screams in the night, a noise that I'll never forget
the sounds of hell, of a terror filled cold sweat

The screams in the night
those sounds that haunt, they taunt, shouting until first light
as another mind cracks under the strain
of bad thoughts flooding the twilight escape of their brains
The strains of a lullaby, stains the brain, it will never leave, so unkind
a nursery rhyme, told with different lines, a torturous refrain trips on the mind
the shouts of the lost, the sobs of the broken, moans fill the cracked hearts
the fears of the night, in tears of fright, the howling starts

As the sun rises, the sound subsides
a calmness fills the halls, a fog of happier vibes
the screams of the night lost in days peaceful light
the shouts forgotten for now, the outlook is bright

Dense

Since when did my head start feeling so dense
the dots still connect, but they don't make sense
draw lines inbetween, but the picture comes out unclear
am I getting old or is this payback for a past on the beer

Since when did I struggle to speak
I find too many words want to unleash
head awash with too much clutter
an over-running gutter, causes the speech to stutter
flooded my mind, a torrential rain
the words. Lost in that grey matter storm drain

Since when did I find myself lost in a daze
just pacing the pathways, mind turned to grey
searching for colour in this greyscale life
in need of a rainbow to brighten the sky

Since when did I lose myself and where did I last see him
was it declining health or the skies turned grim
did he stay in the past with his heart broken open
No, he took a leap into the future to find his world re-awoken
If I saw him in a mirror would I recognise the image staring back
only way to tell is to ride the surprises time throws on the track

Cloak by Adam Ward

Cloak
by Adam Ward
-------

Washed in the rain,
The sins of a racing heart
The last breaths in the depths
Of an end that didn’t start
The silence of a falling star
Tears that drip in puddles, troubled
Coupled lovers huddled,
Drowned in the depths
With the truth muzzled

You walk in the sky
Skipping in starlight
Like a ballerina, fabled
Dancing on the drugs of angels
Dust from the stars ground to sugar
Sweetened kisses of a lover
Lost forever to one another
Within the exhale of the gods we shudder
At the unknown bliss of which we suffer.

Emergency Broadcast (With spoken word video)

We interrupt your programming for an emergency broadcast.  Going live in 5, 4, 3, .. , .

This message goes out to you all, on every station
a call to the nation, this our declaration
the end times are near
the countdown feared is here
we apologise for any inconvenience caused
but in these times of peril we must go to war

This is an emergency
No agency is going to stop the urgency
our funds are depleting and the price of caviar is leaping
we tried to sell your souls, but our costs are sweeping
don't panic, our escapes are planned
our offshore financed golden towers on distant sands

We are currently at war, here, here and here
come on people, raise a cheer, it takes great planning to cause such fear
to fund these endeavours, we sell weapons to the highest of bidders
so any warlords watching, please give us a call, you have our number we always deliver
and to the victor the spoils
and by spoils, we mean oil
to fund our escapes, our great hideaways
whilst you innocent folk go down in the blaze

We are the elite
please bow at our feet
cower in fear, our troops on your street
now be a good sheep, follow the herd try not to bleat
it was good to talk, we would love to stay
but then we know that every underdog someday gets his way.

Sands Of Time

In a room, one with lots of clocks
like a torture cell, the ticking never stops
bombarded with sounds, avalanche of the sands of time
way past my prime, hours pass so quickly when you hear the bells chime

Hands creep over the face, slowly to start, soon they race
before you know it they are spinning on fast forward, head can't keep the pace
ill fitting skin that I'm wearing, is ageing, the parts have worn thin
the sandpaper scrape of time, reveals the person within

The chimes ring out for midnight, the bells call out for one
at two the voices start, at three they are on song
at four the room is spinning, my head is in a daze
at five I want to scream, at six my memory replays
at seven the sun is shining, at eight I am asleep
at nine the dreams are taunting, at ten I wake and weep

In a room, one with lots of clocks
this is my holding cell, where the voices never drop
the sands of time keep sweeping on, coating everything
here in my ageing skin, all I can do is sing

Secrets And Lies

I despise your secrets and lies
the secretive side that played games with my life
the seductive nature of the made up words you'd confide
the frames you hide the real picture inside
the flames you burnt into my world never died

Shamed for caring, you claimed to bare the same feelings
but I'd have clambered the highest mountains, crashed through ceilings
whilst you would be off stealing the hearts of the dreaming
your soul of a demon, angel looks concealing the cheating

Only wanted the best for you, you pushed me to test my truth
you wanted to make me blue, broken, bruised and bloodied too
you took my heart and froze it cold, icy shards too chilled to hold
each fleeting ripple, every little beat shattered it tenfold

I despised your secrets and lies, tried with my might to live by your side
shared with my heart every thing that I had, my life, my soul, my pride
I did the best I could, gave all I had, all the good
yet all you did was make me feel small, used me as firewood, left me where I stood

Lone Wolf

Wolves howl, they don't cower from the storm
they prowl, they don't crawl or fear the swarm
the lone wolf takes a step from the pack
snarling teeth bare, don't get too near, he's ready to attack

Wolves sing to the moon, they don't fear its mystery
they know not of its history, the stories of misery
of witchery and trickery, they just howl their delivery
the lone wolf takes a journey of discovery
shivering in the cold, under sparkling starlight's glittery captivity

Wolves hunt as a pack, they circle then attack
they seek out the weak, they sneak and they leap
the lone wolf walks a different beat, he doesn't follow the herd
not dressed in sheep's clothing, he doesn't bleat
he walks his own path, doesn't retreat

Wolves listen intently, always ready to fight
taking the scent of the cold night air, teeth ready to bite
they chase down their prey, with speed and surprise
the lone wolf watches on with saddening eyes
he turns and walks away, and howls to the skies

Songbird Soul

My sombre songbird soul wants to shout
calm this butterfly heart, unlock its cage let it out
the fluttering, stuttery, stop, start, cries
of dreams that live, whilst hope dies

My dancing heart wants to hold tight
whilst the crooning soul wants to take flight
the blues playing under the light of the moon
dreams that faded into smoke too soon

My jittering heart, dreams of swaying on moonlit beaches
as the glittery stars start to dive into our reaches
whilst my solo soul serenades, singing songs of sunsets
dreams forever of the one soul, it will never truly forget

Stormy Heart

Felt the pain of a storm in my heart
the rage, the hurt where thunder and lightning has ripped it apart
your chest feels like it could collapse
from the weight and heaviness of the tension that wraps

Felt the surge, the tidal flood that bursts
with blood, red hot like a furnace of hurt
into a dam that is missing a part
that feeling, the pain of a broken heart

Felt the waves as they stormed my beaches
my head in pieces, my peace besieged by feverish feelings of a heart left reaching
feels like the beats are decreasing, struggling with my breathing
the feelings well up, the pain needs releasing

Felt the force of a gale force wind, like its taken my breath
I'm walking headlong into the gusts, in truth just feeling like death
the hurt rises to the throat, like in a choking nightmare
one in which you're stuck in space, wont ever taste air
or the lips of the one for whom you care

Felt the pain of heart left beating
just a solo heart, bleeding, pleading, needing healing
eyes are weeping, acid tears leaking, inside I'm screaming
as the hurt keeps on feeding
that feeling when love has left the meeting
and you are left with a heart with no meaning

Phoenix

Take to the skies
like a phoenix, you rise
beautiful and bright, clever and wise
you live to see the smile in others eyes

You soar so high, a bird in flight
above the crumbled wastes of a world in fight
avoiding the dirty ground, you land in a tree
a reminder of natures beauty, a world that should be free

You swoop so fast the barrier of sound is passed
a supersonic blast, a seismic shock wave cast
on the ground below, a quake
to wake the sleeping beings filled with heart ache

You shift through the dusty air, so fast that no one sees you there
you dance on the currents, with static filled stormy flair
through the cotton wool clouds, all murky and grey
you tear a hole to allow the sun to appear and brighten the day

Invisible Ink

Words in a mirror, spell a name
hidden from view behind a word game
in the corner of a poem, a lost word that I threw in
to speak my truths to let them live within

On a page in invisible ink, I let my words sink
the ones I want to speak, but instead bite my tongue in instinct
spilled my love in a code only I know, in a disjointed word flow
I threw words at the page, to disguise the meaning, the feelings that I can't show

In a book I planted a seed, a piece of my heart left to grow into a great oak tree
or a flower that blows in the breeze, the part of me that you can't see
planted in a dense forest to hide between a thousand others
to keep it from showing
to hide as it was growing

Left my voice on a bus seat, a note replete with words I'd never repeat
let my speech become quiet and weak, scared to let people hear the words I'd speak
left phrases in a paperback book, hidden words that gave a truer look
the hidden depths that can easily be mistook

Took a plunge, a stab in the dark
it wasn't a walk in the park
let my voice out, gave a startled shout
let my words fall out, started to fight the doubt
yet still the shadows grow, the mood can go low
the tune can slow, and my truths don't always flow
but I have made a start, my words from the heart
will keep on running, that was the hardest part

Letters never sent

These letters never sent
words I never wrote
the things I never said
conversations we never spoke

the choices that we never took
the walls that blocked our way
all end up the same
a dead end, bricked up alleyway

The songs I never sung
the verses never shared
the hurt clung on and on
like a wolf with its teeth bared

The words I wanted to share
were written right here in this chair
in this book, on a page hidden from you
out of sight, out of view
they screamed in bold writing
I WANT YOU
the shouted in scrawled ink
I NEED YOU
they swam in tears spent
I LOVE YOU
the words faded into the page
blended into a mess of names
turned into a play on words
a poem twisted out of the wreckage of old flames
you said I wasn't romantic
I just never showed it
never wanted you to laugh at the words I wrote
so I held them in my notebook

As the memory seeps onto my page in waves of tears
I flood a new one with ways to fight my fears
no longer fretting over letters I never sent
never once forgetting the words you said I never wrote
but now creating a life much better spent
with people that want more than a token note
