Try to take our right to make a noise
to protest against injustice in our loudest voice
but we are not just slaves to the system
we were born into this illness
we are not the symptoms
we can be the cure,
here to make a difference
we all make our nation
not just those sat in parliaments safe haven
Don't sit idly by,
as they take away our right to cry
we need to unite,
untie ropes that hold us down
take off rags that blind our sight
make out voice the loudest sound
pound the streets with arms aloft, hand in hand
equals against the corruption that blemishes our land
Playing political games,
to bring us to our knees
the villainy
feels less like democracy,
more like tyranny
every day powerful games are played
by those that demand to be obeyed
they dream up ways to make our lives worse
then drip feed us tabloid fodder to sate our thirst
Is it annoying that we want to shout?
then we should get our megaphones out
make our voices loud and clear
it’s our right to not live in fear
when protesting against rape carries a higher sentence
than the act itself,
something stinks to high hell
How have we walked into this?
blindly accepting
that we must lap up every crooked lie they spill
every untruth they tell
do they hold us under some wicked spell?
or are we all too dumbed down to see?
that the enemy is them, not you or me
When you try to force silence
you make words mean as little as dust
corruption rears its ugly head,
as nobody dares speak up
innocent blood will spill
when we can't call for help
because the sickness is deep rooted
when police march jackbooted
People deserve freedom to speak out
don't criminalise the right to discourse,
don't lock us up if we shout
because a cornered animal often shows its teeth
let us have our say in peace
or are you afraid that we’ll see through the lies and legalese
Thanks For Reading,
Peace, Love and Poetry.
