Rains of Hell

The rain poured

like we had angered the gods

thunder roared

lightning struck the brick and stone facades

of the halls that we sat, enclosed inside

nowhere else to hide

we heard the drumming downpour

and we bunkered down fortified

Rain fell

like the end of days

earth transformed to hell

claps of thunder shook the skies

hands covering terrified eyes,

to ward off the blinding lightning strikes

there was nowhere left to run

the barrage had already begun

The heavens opened up

but the rains of hell flowed forward

tearing apart safety shells, our magic spells to ward off the untoward

forgotten in a flash

as the rains slash

a thunderous crash

ripping to shreds the happiness

flooding flowerbeds

soaking us in the rain, blood red

or was this pain all just in my head?

Thanks For Reading,

Peace, Love and Poetry
