Divide and conquer

Divide and conquer.

Seems you can't open a newspaper,

without division splitting the page.

Ink spilling hate,

it's all the rage.

Written words narrate

about enemies at the gate.

Divide and conquer.

Turning brother against brother,

sister against sister,

man against themselves

to look in the mirror.

It's all getting clearer.

Hate the reflection,

it's all misdirection.

Divide and conquer.

With propaganda and lies.

Make people become spies,

looking out at their neighbours’ lives

through judging eyes,

because of the printed fabrications you write.

Divide and conquer.

It's so easy to do.

As soon as you get opposing views.

Turn the screw.

Wait!

Why not tell some truth?

Oh yeah...

Hate sells more than peace can ever do.

Divide and conquer.

Stir the pot,

let the contents boil

until they spill over the top.

Watch the comments start to flow.

Venom rains from the rooftops,

anger floods the streets below.

Divide and conquer.

Now you have us ensnared.

Fighting between us,

our angers flared.

Poke the bear.

Provoke a reaction,

create factions,

a never-ending nightmare.

Divide and conquer.

Set the cat amongst the pigeons,

the shark in the swimming pool.

Sit back and watch

as people lose their cool.

 Fighting like animals cornered.

It raises your stock,

when the comments start to rock.
