Stop doubting yourself.
You are a poet.
A word slinger,
so go and sing,
let the verbal play begin.
Let your imagination loose,
don't worry about being too obtuse,
or too verbose,
too loquacious
or too on the nose.
Just take the words,
twist them into balls,
throw them in the air
and see how they fall.
Stop doubting yourself.
You can do this.
An empty page is not a setback,
it's a playground,
so let your inner child piggyback
on your hopes and thoughts.
Let them build old castles
from the torn parts of your heart
or forts
from the scars
that you are too scared
to impart.
Let them become pirates,
sailors on the seven seas,
Feel the cold splash of water
and the sea breeze.
Taste the salt on dry chapped lips
as you feel the first words
slowly start to drip.
Let them become adventurers,
explorers traversing
the lands of your mind,
See what treasures they find
when they dig at the place marked
with a cross on your map
The buried memories
and the things you held trapped.
Let them breathe new life
into old lifeless toys,
things that you remember that once
brought you joy.
Let your inner child loose,
they can become
anything they choose.
Ghost hunters
in a world of haunted houses
and spooky corners.
Let them find the darkest memories
and turn them into a scary clown,
or build a new world
then flip it upside down.
Let your inner child play,
let them find the words
that you need to say.
Thanks for reading
