See that star twinkling,
the one that glows so bright,
The one I speak to at night,
pulsing in the cosmic sky,
Silent tears slowly dry,
but memories never die,
giving me strength
to face
every day, any distance,
and today
would have been
your birthday,
So, like that star
I'll sing in joyfully tone,
but inside I'll be a sombre sun,
burning when I am alone.
I see you there,
in the vast expanse,
In the refreshing waters,
in the plants.
The soil,
fertile and growing,
vibrant fields flowing
in the gentle winds
you are blowing,
and on this sea
of flower-born memory
I'll be the boat rowing along,
Singing a joyful song,
but inside I'll always be
your sombre son.
The November chill
can drop like a brick
Making icicle tears
spear your heart so quick.
Each one a flash, a glance
at a day now buried in the distance,
but I'll always remember
the love that warmed through,
like a fire
melting the stalactites of misery,
Leaving me
with only pools of memory
to dive into. And for a moment
I'll smile
and believe you are there in the room,
but then I'll see that sparkling star,
the shimmering moon,
and I'll sing a joyous song,
but inside
I'll always be your sombre sun,
trying to warm up everyone.
