Musicality of a moonlit reality

Under a full moon sky, I sigh,

the sigh of a happy heart, the sigh

of a contented poet. The love

in the eyes of the ancient satellite

gazes down upon me, and I feel

something bubbling inside - an energy

I thought I'd long denied; hope, love,

and the smile in my eyes. I feel free,

not concerned with judgemental glares.

I just live for every moment of beauty.

For there is musicality to this moonlit reality.

For I have found a peace

that for so long eluded me.

I am happier than when the story began,

and I still have whole chapters

to turn and explore. I never had a plan,

or any goal, but in not planning,

I found my role - my world that revolves

around the whole of us. This community

of humanity. This union of stars.

And in the air,

a sound soars like a bird of prey

seeking my ears to make a nest.

The whistle of the wind through the trees,

the windchime melody of a smile set free.

And under a buck moon skylight,

I dance. The dance of the night.

I feel alive. The first time in half a life.

Like someone has pressed play on a song

that I heard many moons ago,

one that had faded from my mind.

Now it spins again, a vinyl no longer

skipping the grooves. And I can't help

but to move to the delicious tune

that plays in vibrant, vivid day-glo.

And I let myself feel

the music of the universe

surging through my sore limbs,

urging them to start dancing,

and I can't stop. I want to feel

every blade of grass,

every dewdrop. Every buttercup love,

every daisy chain heart.

I want to feel truth,

and I want to share it all with you.

And I feel the sway of my hips,

the way the smile of the moon

falls from her face,

slips sensuously across my lips

like a first kiss, and I embrace the melody.

I feel the heartbeat that had flatlined in me,

now pounding a rhythm that can be

heard across aeons, across countless

galaxies.

For I feel alive, spinning around,

letting my limbs flail and fly.

The way music can survive

long after the record

has stopped revolving,

I am no longer consoling

the hurt parts of me.

For the song keeps on turning

in my awakened ears, in my excited head,

in the atoms that form the whole.

I feel in bloom, a freshness in my step,

a dance I had so long ago

forgotten to forget.

And I know that I'll never let the

darkness take hold anymore,

As this life is for the living

and I'm here for the after-party.

In the midst of a space-dust fantasy

Do you dream of sparkling seas,

glittering pink in rippled memories of blue?

Do you walk in swaying hayfields of your truth,

dancing in a beautiful melody that breathes

through the magenta sighs of fading sunlight?

Do you shine your light on all that you do,

becoming the orange-hued sunset

on a canvas of purple twilight?

And if I was to walk your dreams with you,

would it feel like a joyride into

another life? A journal of love held high,

Or would it be a nightmare descent

full of terrifying scares? A fairground

rollercoaster crashing into a death trip dive.

Would you know that I am there

to hold you tight, whilst you put on

the finest air display for wanderlust eyes?

And in the midst of a space-dust fantasy,

do you think of me at all? Or am I just a face

appearing in the background haze?

As you clamber through the glassy maze

of a world where the fluid streets

shift with your gaze, rippling as they

circuit like a butterfly stippled in blue,

floating around a flower. A blossom

blooming brighter than the sun and moon.

Or does it all eclipse the view?

Plunging you into darkness,

where the light inside of you is flickering,

unable to break through the gloom.

Do you dream upside down, seeing

wonders that would turn the world neon?

Do you dream in song?

Do you become what you have always

longed to be, or does the light fall too soon,

saturated and broken into fragmental dreams?

And if I appeared, to hold out a hand,

lifting you higher, would you glide with me

through spectacular skies?

Would your light shine twice as bright?

Illuminating the world with new insight,

to see once more the beauty

and magic you store inside.

For I know in my dreams

when the darkness comes

and the fog consumes every sunset,

when the monsters emerge, upset,

from the cracks in the paving stones,

when the slime seeps into the streets,

and the light flickers - A strobing nightmare

scream, and I see the creatures…

Creep closer. To. Me.

I know that you lift my heart higher,

so that I can shower the world with light.

Do you dream in union, a parallel

communion, a communication across

aeons, a starlight sing-song, held beside

a campfire under a bright full moon?

Or do you wander alone,

thinking of a moment where

tender hands held on and the world

stopped mid-spin.

Well don't be scared, don’t let the fears bite,

for in this world, I can always shine my light,

as our cosmic connection allows us

to breathe in sync, and stays stronger

than any dream into which we sink.

Venus' Daughter

A fleeting dream soars in from the east

and I’m caught in its web-like dreamcatcher

threads, an ant in the cosmic wonderland,

strands wrapped around my heart strings.

And I wish for henna painted hands,

strumming a sitar as it blends into a viola,

a German opera, a restaurant band, becoming

an orchestra, whilst Celtic harps echo the sound

of my love, through mystic harmonious drones,

Spanish guitar overtones and luxurious

momentous tunes. A musical interlude of hope.

For music is the route to my soul

And if she sails across oceans to my frail silent bones,

I’ll let my heart be a home and my soul become a star.

So far away, and yet always near me.

Her heart sings soulfully like a songbird

before she takes to wing and flies on the wind.

Setting sight for a mystical union. A majestic composition.

Singing, 'guide me home, where I can sit,

wishing a drip feed of lips speaking in

little sips of love.'

And I'll slip into a daydream, heart aflutter,

as the blinds close and the light stutters

like a waterfall across my chest.

And her soul reflects diamond light,

and I feel myself wishing to caress

the treasure inside. To share the pleasure

of a spacewalk. As on this starry stage we rise.

To make first contact, like two alien souls

laying eyes on ultraviolet skies.

And she will sing in words alien to me,

a song of Venus’ daughter, to mars' son,

alone on a red stone, the ruby rock and the pink rose.

And as I crush so hard, my surface becomes crystal,

reflecting the rose's beauty to the stars

and the words become clearer.

As two worlds orbit nearer

And I can’t hide my feelings,

they dance in the vast orchestral

songs that the stars hum to lead us home.

So, I let them form, and I watch them shine.

And if they are not to be, I won’t dull this light.

For it guides the way I see.

I’ve renewed my love of me,

and with it, my love of everything

And I hum along with a song I heard in a daydream.
