Time Machine Record Player

We used to drop the needle, watch the black vinyl spinning
the hiss and crackle, the first notes ring, the song beginning
now the methods have changed but the result is the same, click play
into a land of mystery, magic and wonder, and we are away

The melodies at our fingertips, a magic pill, a trip
as the guitar plays out a chord before the band lets rip
thunderous drums pounding like a beastly heartbeat
a bass line licks and helps to move your feet

Whatever the mood there is a tune for you,
want to feel moved? here take the blues
listen as they show you their world, walk along as if in their shoes
the worlds created, so many journeys, stories to learn and live through
from here the paths are endless, a lifetime of searching to do

We can rock out, every era a different take,
a snippet of the world that day
like a history book with a groove, just let the records play
hear the protest songs, when wars were fought along the way
the songs that sung against nuclear weapons and at the years of decay

Like a time machine, can go back to 70's, hear about the winter of discontent
the Pistols screaming for anarchy, The Clash rocking whilst London sinks into the Thames
in the 60's we had The Kinks, with their stories of village greens, long lost days
The Beatles taking us on a magical mystery tour,
The Doors opening us up to a world far away

Nirvana, Pearl jam, Soundgarden, Alice in chains, the 90's was a darker grain
brought us a sound that set the tone of the day, unfortunately only a handful remain
but the records live on, the briefest of glimpses they impart
an addicts mind, a melancholy depression with a rocking heart

Oasis, britpop was all a blur, a teenager exploring his world
when i used to jump around the indie nightclub drunk on life everything twirled
the lost stolen kisses, the songs remind of those moments where love was blind
every song has a story, every tune a tale, so put a record on, become entwined

Thanks for reading,
Peace & Love.
Kyle.
