Ruins of Love

Walk the ruins, memories of kisses under moonlit sky
a flattened wasteland of love sent to die
the city of roses and hearts; collapses around
and tonight we cry one last time, as we go underground

Surrounded by the ashes, the dust covered remains of love once sworn
we walk the asphalt fields, where hearts were worn
letting the aftershock crash the remaining walls
as around us the city of hope and trust falls

Even in the coldest moments - when darkness looms
walk along the path, lined with signs marked gloom
seeing the wreckage of years gone by
the graveyard where love goes to die

As blood soaks the fallen bricks and debris
I have one final dream of you and me
we take a last gasp of the dusty air
tasting of metal, rust and fear
we take the crooked paths, where golden towers once stood
shrouded by the city where love and hope lived, before the flood

We see angels fall, torn wings cease their flight
no longer a city of light, now a dead end walk - no return in sight
where once love spent its time awake
now sleepwalks in the wastes, after the quake
in the distance the wolf howls - a mournful cry
for lost hearts and loves split apart; he sings to the sky

Thanks For Reading.
Peace and Love
Kyle.
