Paranoid thoughts creep over the mind as it tries to sleep at night
but sometimes the paranoia is right, there are monsters just out of sight
Ive met a few, they dig into your soul until they get a piece that they can unravel
they touch your heart with a sliver of ice, that at first feels nice then soon all becomes fragile
sometimes they are out to cause hurt, with games played to break you
make you doubt your brain, make you mistrust the truth
They set traps to ensnare you, then they push you down
as they laugh through upside down painted frowns
crooked smiles they crack, to make you trust
they crack your iron like shell as if its made of rust
Ive met a few, they sliver, into your life with a promise
then let it disintegrate like dust, feeding you with lies so dishonest
They eat at your pain, before piling it all back
so that it builds up again, the cycle continues always along the same track
they make you doubt your mind, the things you did, the things you said
none of it feels real, they take your thoughts and twist them till they are no better than dead
Ive met a few, been caught in their stagnant air
whilst they prowl around their lair, treating you with disdain until you do despair
The paranoia builds it makes it so hard to trust, but some are good
they don't aim to draw blood, they offer hope in the darkest scariest floods
they give light in the moments when blackness is all you see
when inky waters are consuming you and its a struggle to breath
Ive met a few, some of the best people I could hope to know
they give you life when death is all you feel
and to them I offer love and care for it is all that I can show
