This is the world
from my Spider's eye view.
Everyone is scared of me,
it's nothing new.
But they are all so tall
and I'm just a little thing,
barely an inch even if I sprawl,
yet they still run screaming.
I only want to be a friend.
I popped down to say hi.
Waved my 8 legs in a flurry
but you left in quite a hurry,
didn't even say bye.
Incy Wincy they call me,
I find it a tad insulting.
I've seen friends
meet sticky ends.
Squashed under the monsters
and their detachable feet,
or the big yellow block
that is always within their reach.
We can't all be tarantulas.
Some of us only have these four walls.
but as soon as I put up my web
those beasts destroy it all.
They just don't seem to want me here,
it really gets you down
but all I'm doing is hanging around.
I peer out from my hole in the corner,
they seem so happy, listening to the murmur
of the noisy flashing box.
I drop.
I don't want to impose,
only want to get close,
join the fun
but as always, they soon run.
If I was a dog, I'd bark.
A lion, I'd roar,
but I'm just a little spider
my voice doesn't go far.
So why be scared,
I'm just here in my web.
I may come to play,
but I'm not going to catch you in my threads.
I'm just a little spider.
Not a bird eating goliath,
or a plate sized beast
with red eyes, which wants to feast.
I'm just a tiny house spider
and your house is my house
we can live here forever.
