If we ignore our world
and drown out its screams,
it will burn, it will slow its turn,
it will end our hopeless dreams.
It will stop giving,
stop providing for us.
If we ignore the world
and coat its lungs in polluted dust.
If we ignore its pleas
she will have us on our knees,
begging for mercy,
begging for what life used to be.
If we keep taking without replacing
the end will hasten, but will we listen?
If we ignore the signs,
the arrows pointing down in decline
then our world will soon become a shrine
to what used to be.
What previously showed us beauty,
will show only neglect.
damaged and wrecked landscapes,
if we keep marching forward unchecked.
The world is sick,
wrap her up warm,
she needs medicine quick.
If we ignore the symptoms
then things will get much worse,
we need to provide TLC
to keep our little corner of the universe.
