Prisoner of the heart

Here sits the prisoner of the heart
frozen in place, so wishes to depart
to explore the lands outside the four walls
the city of love, his destination calls

Sat head bowed, reflects on how this came to be
a crime never committed, longing to be free
can the prisoner ever be released, too institutionalised
can he find his path, ignoring the pasts lies

Can freedom be granted, unlocking the door to this shell
so much to give, but too much fear, this heart shaped hell
his jailer rattles the keys tauntingly
just wants to be free

In solitary, no way to escape, bangs on the walls
no one hears his calls, contained, always afraid, heart falls
the grey stone, all that hears his thoughts
tears drip on the cold floor, his heart tied in knots

The prisoner sits and weeps, his heart never sleeps
thinks of the perfect life, with you by his side, his pain deep
could be your prince, your king, the one of which you sing
but the walls stop you from ever knowing him

Dreams of open spaces, his heart an open book
a kiss as eyes touch, into each other they look
a tsunami of love washes over, as hearts meld
crashing, breaks down the walls to his cell

Thanks for reading, Peace and Love.
Kyle.
