stinging words

I want to say that I...

could I let on that maybe

in someway, what I'm trying to convey

what im trying to say, is that I think I like your way

Why is it so hard to get the words to sing

are you really that afraid of words that could sting

just clutching, grabbing the air

when all you are trying to say is you care

But stinging words hurt like a knife to the chest

to avoid the pain that must be best

so you hold them inside your head

keep them with you instead

What I really want to do is open up to you

let my thoughts run free, like water so clear and blue

but I know that in the end ill run and hide,  my safety net

I don't enter the water, don't want to get wet
