I've heard those distant rains
on joyless tear soaked days
when my thoughts cannot contain
all the pain inside, that stays
I've held those pitiful cries
deep inside, which I cannot release
with every thought just lies
that offer no peace
I've felt death's cold embrace
under dark grey skies
like I've lost a race
for which there was no prize
I've had those sleepless nights
where, in the dark, thoughts flow
every one a personal slight
attacking to make you feel low
I've wore that fake smile
when all I have to give is tears
I've been lost for miles
and for many long years
I've felt the darkness take hold
on days with no sun
try to be bold
and against the odds I won
on joyless tear soaked days
when my thoughts cannot contain
all the pain inside, that stays
I've held those pitiful cries
deep inside, which I cannot release
with every thought just lies
that offer no peace
I've felt death's cold embrace
under dark grey skies
like I've lost a race
for which there was no prize
I've had those sleepless nights
where, in the dark, thoughts flow
every one a personal slight
attacking to make you feel low
I've wore that fake smile
when all I have to give is tears
I've been lost for miles
and for many long years
I've felt the darkness take hold
on days with no sun
try to be bold
and against the odds I won

I for one have been there, Kyle and love your poem. The worst time for me is 4:00 AM. That is full of despair. And it all seems so humorous in the later day. I like what you're doing here.
