Running

Keep running, fires flit in my mind, jogging memories
been going so long, this marathon, forgotten what I'm running from
an endless cycle, doing circuits around and around
pounding the ground, this town providing the sounds

Travelled so far, this place doesn't seem the same
I've lost my place in the race, no one else to blame
soles worn thin, souls worn out, my hopes refused
feet bleeding, bruised, blistered and abused

Took a wrong turning once, went off the beaten track
a fragile past, was like broken glass, stabbing in my back
stings of recognition, pain as my feet quicken, down the rain drives
memory archives, little shards of life, stick in like knives

Been running so long, no idea what from
was it the beasts of the past, or the fear of new ones
time will tell, the story well, if I just walk along
future not yet written, just a tune but no song

Thanks for reading,
Peace & Love,
kyle.
