lonely day

I watched the sun fall on our love

as the night crept above

felt the hope drift away like a dream gone astray

a nightmare that took hold, on that darkest day

I saw my dream fade away, like the tides of the sea

waters so far in the distance, an instance; a vision of me

alone on a beach, no one to greet, just me standing there, sand on my feet

teary eyed, as the hopes went to die, flying away to the sky up on high

I saw the sky fall as the stars switched off, darkness enveloped all

began to call, but my cries not loud enough, tears, a waterfall

a wash of misjudged thoughts and hopeful hearts

lost in a flash of light, a moonlit night spent apart

I watched nights blanket surround, the lost love unfounded, left grounded

my words were all floundering, those shouting hurtful voices hounding

as my hope gave way, the last light did play

and darkness descended on that lonely day
