Try to avoid the setbacks
pavement slips beneath
covered in cracks
will I fall between the grinding teeth?
build bridges to bypass the gaps
Amble down dark streets
where once music and love would beat their retreat
now only distant hums fill the air
empty pavements of despair
I dream of those days lost in the look of wild eyes
playful smiles and long brown hair - as days turn to night
the hole in the sky where once a star burned bright
now just a black hole devoid of care
the remnants of time like a dripping tear going nowhere
Traipse down twisting turning terraces
byways of bygone days, a maze of misremembered memories
hazy dreams faded into reality
blended cocktail fuelled fantasies
where once the night was our playground
a ship that was soon to run aground
flooding senses with forgotten sounds
the screams shouted to put me down
Flow through the arteries and veins
a city of dead ends
snaking streets, smirking as I slip
let the words of the night tear my heart into strips
tangled spiders web of thoughts
voices that fill me with dread
the sounds of the town drill into my head
I seek a safe space in this world of walking dead
be it the words I read, or the music into which I fled
a field of solitude away from prying eyes
just me and the starlit skies
no ears listening to my pained cries
on the long dark nights
endeavour to replace misguided memories we spent together
with moments of wonder I can cherish forever
Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love.
Kyle.
