Like an Addict

Like an addict
you're my drug
I know you are no good
but I need you in my blood
pumping to my heart
so, I inject you deep into my arm

A rush of love, followed by a crashing low
I should run but this addiction has me by the throat
the dealer keeps me sweet
by giving little treats
but then knocks on my door
to push me down
scrambling on the floor begging for more

You are the high that I feel
a psychedelic daydream in a world of shadows
yet you go for my heart with a blade made of steel
ready to make me beg at the crossroads
do I do a deal with the devil?
or do I walk my path free?
but with no love so special

You are my pills; thrills you make me soar when I feel grounded
But you keep me down, out and dumbfounded
it's a rollercoaster of emotion
this love explosion
and my heart is full of shrapnel
bomb damage from prior battles

Like an addict, you are my drug
but not one that is good
can I beat the cravings?
cold turkey, feels so bland
When the love you gave was so embracing

Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love.
Kyle.
