I was just watching the rain fall
a spray from above that washes all
a brief light ray breaking the grey
reminding of a sunny day
one where we found our way
It was long ago in a distant time
where dreams were real
a time sublime
the Watchman snoozes
darkness loses
its hold
a day where demons
stayed in from the cold
and strained screams
were faded memories of old
I was just dreaming
the Watchman thought
so long a time
since some sleep he'd caught
Where were the demons lurking?
Where was that creak in the dark?
Where were the pained shrieks
of a nightmare world so stark?
Was his job complete?
Had his enemies fallen to defeat?
Was the night safe for those that needed
to breath, to feel a sense of relief?
Was I dreaming?
bleary eyes adjusted to moon stained night
such a peaceful place this city
when there is nothing to cause fright
the quiet alleys, the dim lit streets
the cobblestones beneath aching feet
where in the past blood had poured
under skies where thunder roared
Was I dreaming?
no nightmares
no terror filled blank stares
just light rain to wash away remnants of horror fuelled visions
ghostly apparitions
chilled air to blow away any lingering despair
drains down to the darkest depths
into the demons’ lair
the peace of night his only care
a piece of night to hold tight
He knew in his heart that somewhere in the shadows
a being is being born to bad blood and broken hope
he knows he will have to stand again in battle
as the winds start again to blow
and the windows rattle
the Watchman will be ready
to take the night and hold her steady
Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love
Kyle
