On Weathered Wings

On weathered wings, she flew to me

like a bird of prey

her beauty

a drifting silhouette

against the brightness of day

an image etched into my mind

swept along like on waves that play

a stretched thought never left far behind

With wings, she flew

elegantly through

cotton wool clouds

higher than mountains

never tiring of the view

she held my gaze

dazed, her beauty left me amazed

her grace as she danced through my head

left me floored, as she flew instead

With majestic wings, she flew

more beautiful than she ever knew

the way she swam through days

like whispers on the wind

blinding sun rays

words that put you at ease

as you fall to your knees

like an angel she makes the air sing

she is everything

With wings, she soared

as I was floored

grounded, as her heart tore

ribbons from mine

love stole the smile from my eyes

replaced them with sour tears to cry

as she took to the air

and off she did fly

With wings, she flew

like a rocket through the blue

cutting the air

like a knife through butter

a blur of memory

she soared

further than ever before

higher than the heavens above

beyond the stars

passing mars, an angel

that never fell

her story

not mine to tell
