Butterflies

If you listened to the air

you would hear the words I don’t utter

the silent pauses

exposing that my heart is aflutter

like butterflies have set up home

in my arteries and in my bones

my tears would reveal a mass

of distorted stained-glass reflections

all the times I've wished to show affection

I’ve always let that moment pass

If you had looked at the whole

instead of just a part

this wouldn’t have been a dead-end street

it would have led towards a shared heart

not just a shared bed

unkempt hair and a messed-up head

where dreams lay forever in tatters

if only, our words ever truly mattered

If you had listened to the silent sighs

inside thoughts, that sought to inspire

insights into my mind

you would find

a place where we could see

who we were always supposed to be?

instead of hanging on to this thread

of unhappiness, pain and dread

we would have found solace in love instead

If you looked at my eyes

through these windows you'd see

wells of tears ready

to break free

for the memories of you and me

that will never get to be

because you left so long ago

in a different boat

on a faraway sea

Thanks For Reading.

Peace & Love.

Kyle.
