First Kiss

 

The way lips parted

and our hearts started

for what felt like the first time

the beats in sync

the feeling sublime

The way we swayed

to an unheard tune

one that only we knew

through the universe it played

singing of me and you

 

As we brushed close enough

to feel the heat from our breath

that first kiss

a love that would conquer death

We held on tight

against the cool of night

Our eyes looked inside

through windows opened wide

and our minds danced in anticipation

at this invitation

 

It was like lightning struck

electricity flowed like a sparkling brook

The way you glowed

like snow under streetlight strobe lighting

blown bulbs normally frightening

made the mood more exciting

and we let ourselves go

floated on waves of gold

like a ray of hope

in a world so cold

 

The world shook

an earthquake of desire

passion and fire

The sands of time stopped flowing

for just a moment

to watch as our hearts were growing

And we let ourselves be swept on the clouds

ignored the warning sounds

the eardrums that pound

to say watch your step or you may drown

 

The way lips touched

nervous and rushed

that first kiss

would it be hit or miss?

a taste as sweet as honey

as fresh as a sea mist blowing

as we twisted through emotions

like a field of flowers

or a river flowing
