Sky Confetti

A dusting

of crystallised

angel tears

drifts down gently

from heavens eyes.

Icing sugar

from the sky,

sifting over this cake of life.

A momentary escape

into the fairy tale

fables of ice queens

and frozen lakes.

I looked up high

at the fluffy

balls of white

dancing down,

in their mesmerising state

like a dance in fancy gowns

across the ballroom of night.

Before they all slow the pace,

softly landing in place.

I stand wide awake,

as the delicate flakes

melt playfully

upon my face.

As the chill takes my breath

I let my mind wander

into the snow drift.

White chocolate

shavings swirling, dancing

graceful pirouettes

upon our plate.

Crumbs of happiness.

Sky confetti

slowly coating us,

as I look into the space

between the darkness

and catch a flake

in my hand.

Before I walk into

the warmth of home

and let my thoughts

gently land.
