Sail with me
these treacherous seas.
Threatening waves
dance in graceful ballet,
whilst we sway, salty, windswept,
but not shipwrecked,
across unfathomable depths,
in love I hold you tight.
Fear not the waves, for our
stories are tied. And I'll be
your buoyancy device,
if we fall overboard -
and you will hold me
if I get too cold.
Let us be swept,
a boat on this life.
Rain pelting our cheeks
as the storms sit - menace in their eyes.
For there is no calm in the storm
only on the outside.
So we will ride the storm clouds.
Rid ourselves of fright,
surf the lightning,
before it gets a chance to strike.
Love will show us the path is right,
and I love you with every
heartbeat of my life.
I'll hold the wheel, whilst you
sleep away strain. I'll soak in the rain,
to keep you dry and safe.
Will you do the same
when I need to breathe?
You can sail us free,
and I'll be there just watching you,
tears of joy soaking through
my cheeks like an everlasting
invisible tattoo. A rose and a heart.
My love for
the flower that is you.
And together we can
sail by starlight,
across glassy mirrors,
reflecting the heaven's beauty
for only our eyes to witness.
And we can paint lines between the stars,
whilst I paint hearts upon your skin
with the kiss of my tongue.
Follow them right into dreams.
For life by your side
is a fantasy that can never be wrong.
So keep watching the starlight with me.
And I'll watch magic reflect in your eyes,
whisper me direction, guide when I am lost.
And when your mind is burdened by life
I'll be your mattress where you can lay out
your hopes and fears in torn pages.
And I'll show you
that fear isn't needed. That those pages
can become boats instead.
And hope's coasts
will become reality if we just follow
the right stars, instead of dead ghosts.
I'll sing songs of revelation
to keep you entertained,
if you enter in fully to this dream
and never let yourself stray.
For they can be our compass
in that long night of learning.
And we will feel
the ice in our hearts,
the fear in our lungs burning.
The shadows will shout
as the night-time comes,
but I promise, those seas will
settle and our hearts will thaw,
for time has plans for us,
awaiting on our own private shore.
