Into the shadows

Into the shadows

where human feet don't usually go.

Into the darkness, beyond the mirrors sheen

reflecting on forever, all that ever been.

Where angry rivers flow.

The place where nothing grows,

just rot and decay.

Nothing glows,

just the rusted, faded, dullness that shows.

Into the shadows

where bad thoughts

are the only things that blossom,

where no sunlight can give wisdom,

no stars above to glisten

and no one at all will listen.

To the screams.

The endless shrill piercing that drills into your skull,

until your senses are weak and dull.

Into the shadows

where screams are heard, chants and curses, untold secret words.

Where anguish and bad dreams are stirred

and poured into water for the people above

to put into slops that they conceive of,

then serve in their shops

where agitated people push and shove,

to make their lives

less dull and devoid of love.

Into the shadows

where dreams fall like dead trees.

Voices call out in insanity

and old tales become twisted fantasies.

Poisoned the wells whilst we drunk them dry,

now the demons of hell wave and say hi.

In the shadows where the demons play,

a noise heard forever and a day,

screaming in torment as the shadows overlay

the last remnants of humanity wither away.

Crescent moon

Crescent moon sits tight

keeping her eye on the night.

Not a lot she hasn't seen,

the glamour, the glitz,

the world falling to the pits,

then rising again, like lungs full of breath.

Nothing excites, not life nor death.

The monsters don't cause her fright

and the people barely raise

a hint of delight,

She watches the milling of crowds

in cities, all out on the tiles.

She hides behind clouds

whilst the wandering feet

have walked for miles.

She sees where they've been

and where they are heading to,

their secret rendezvous.

She pays them no dues.

She has seen it all before.

She sees the castles,

all the pomp and ceremony

So phony she thinks,

feeling lonely.

She witnessed the birth of man,

The fall of Rome, the fires of Pompeii

and the millennium dome.

The hundred-year war,

a beat of a butterfly's wing

Nothing more.

She saw Notre Dame burn,

in the blink of an eye.

She has seen the world turn

millions of times more than you or I.

She has seen the greats,

the writers, artists, playwrights,

their flames flickering bright

then fading away.

Like candles marking

the earth's passing years.

She has seen smiles and tears.

And will see so many more,

long after we have gone.

Departed the story,

just a wave on the shore,

a footnote on a page,

nothing more.

Every inch of the earth she has seen

Every tree branch, every new man-made machine.

Nothing new for her to explore.

Keeping eyes on the people of this earth

has become quite a chore,

their constant noise

a frightful bore.

She yawns, as day inches closer,

She sees a hint of orange,

a hairline crack on the sky

and with a sigh she closes her eyes.

Wolfman

My mind is syncing to different frequencies,

I'm hearing far off notes

played in all new keys.

A beastly heart out in the street,

anxiously skips a beat.

I hear the blood coursing through veins,

trickling like water flowing down drains.

My pulse quickens in the midnight heat.

My sense of smell is heightened,

I can identify the scent of colours and moods.

I feel enlightened,

invigorated by the moon.

I can smell the change of day from evening to night.

The essence of my prey taking flight.

The perfume of despair lingers in the air,

with the pungent aroma of fear never far from here.

My taste buds are tingling.

My mouth feels like a million nerve endings

all firing at once,

flavours mingling.

I can feel the hunger

for blood.

It's on the tip of my tongue,

I need it.

I need to feed to belong.

I can sense the moon up high,

the light it provides,

the pull of the tides.

Taking me along for the ride.

My fur bristles with anticipation,

as I bound off into the darkness of night.

Bouncing through the city,

searching for a bite.
