Hand of Fate

Another day
we roll our dice
see where fortune takes
will I climb a ladder someplace high?
or will I slip down with the snakes
into their lair, will it cause me to shake

The goddess of love takes her turn
a risk, I could play to win
have my heart feel the burn
I could give it a defensive spin
let the pieces keep moving
elongate the game
but is it turning to stalemate?
or are the odds improving

Another shuffle of the deck
what has the hand of fate dealt to me
am I a battleship wreck?
have I landed under the jailer's lock and key?
do I have a get out free card?
or is a lifetime of solitude my reward
solitaire takes patience
to get a winning run
it needs acceptance
sometimes you are on the bottom rung

Somewhere in a darkened crypt
death sits stacking the cards
always in his favour
his gaming muscles ripped
you must always be on your guard
to win you can never waiver
his play, another level
though he never cheats
he just revels
in other people’s defeats

The games we play, life and death
love and hate
heart and soul
tied together by the hand of fate
I feel empty, a graveyard hole
but my words still flow
a bow ribbon to decorate
heart and soul
boxed up ready to go

Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love.
Kyle.
