let's follow a different path

see what we can achieve

Take a new course

see if we can avoid repeating this curse

a temper tantrum trump war scare

fire burning landscapes bare

disease and pandemic

panic at the state of our planet

let's take a time travel trip back and make a change

one that doesn’t feel like a disaster movie

with our destinies prearranged

Can we find January's hope?

buried now, can it regrow

can we see the silver lined clouds against the grey mass?

the sunshine slivers like shards of glass

the light that slices the darkness in two

can we pull through

Can we rebuild,

not as it was

but how it should be, love filled

hope is never lost

If we try to see the bountiful beauty

that blows away the burning brutality

of a world lost at sea

can we find it please?

let us cry today, for the hurt

but let us smile for the future bright

let's find treasure in the dirt

let’s start again, living right

We can become heroes

if we change, respect our earth

instead of chasing additional financial zeros

to add to our fictional worth

what if instead, we pledge to share

become fairer, show we care

let love fill the air

not hurt pain and despair
