That moment of clarity
when you turn out the light,
welcoming the darkness.
That peaceful kiss of night.
Under warming
fluffy clouds of white,
you evaporate like mist,
seeking insight
in the duvet sanctuary.
The fortress of bliss.
Away from the bleak frigid bite,
the frosty abyss of winter
and it's boreal freezing spite.
Further Into the duvet
you venture. An explorer
seeking further adventure.
You surrender yourself
to the wonderous
head to toe warmth.
The world of the sublime,
a world so calm.
You search further afield,
duvet stretching out forever,
spanning ages, years, miles,
eons of stories all deliciously
sewn together.
You see new tales woven,
old worn-out fables re-stitched,
you see your own storyline
in the distance
being embroidered
with all the words that fit.
Never a single missed stich.
Deep into the blanket world,
so far that your room
is nothing but a distant memory.
Through the fantasy forests
full of fallen leaves,
a place to rest if you so please.
Beyond the power and magic
of the soothing seas,
into the world of tranquillity,
where silence lives, thrives and
soundlessly breathes.
Even the echoes of footsteps
get softened by the lush grass.
Not a single noise shall pass.
A space completely at ease,
surrounded by
the midnight scents
of the freshest trees,
flowers that only stir at night,
there to perfume the air
whilst the moon is sharing her magic light,
Then gone once dawn cracks the sky.
Pollution is just an outside memory,
here in the quilted palace of dreams.
A world of peacefully darkness
where your mind can truly sing,
it can be free to explore the mysteries,
just block out the daily worries
and the noise in your head.
Focus on the spaces in-between
the duvet and your bed.
