There are so many levels of Hell.
At first it can be complicated,
navigating the grand stairways,
all leading off in random mazy directions,
Like a multistorey shopping centre,
an Escher creation of misery.
It so often gets a bad rep,
like a bottle of Pepsi
next to a crateful of Coke.
"Yo man ain't cha heard
heavens where it's at.
When you get there
they hand out cucumber sandwiches
sparkling clean water,
fig leaf welcoming packages,
and all the books
you ever wanted to read,
as long as it is the Bible.
You'll be grateful that you are dead,
It is so graceful, seeing the cherubs
flying overhead"
But if you think of it more
like a rival
companies afterlife,
it soon adds
a little more depth.
Heaven isn't just death.
This is M&S expensive
champagne coated
final breaths, as you wistfully
float in the harmonious tones,
but sometimes
you just want to raise hell,
idle down the flaming
middle aisle of Aldi.
Exploring all of the wonderous wares
Eating their cheaper, but tastier fares.
There are numerous layers of hell,
like a fiery trifle, each layer
a wonderful mouthful.
The popping candy topping,
devilishly delightful, but beware,
there is always a trick to the treat.
Something hanging in the air.
In hell the best musicians will be
playing guitar maniacally,
as hell rises around them.
Each guitar lick lifts
hells molten foundation a bit.
As it breaks out of the ground,
A whole new continent
to prowl around,
leather trousers may not be
the soundest choice
You really need an ice pack.
For the tempestuous heat
soon plays havoc
with your seat.
This is the hell
that the collective
is trying to raise.
lead lined with foundations
right to the centre of time,
but the vibes will be fun,
no three-day long sermons,
spoken over the same classical
harp piece being strummed
over and over again.
Greensleeves can stay on earth
where it belongs.
