Apparently, the world is ending again.

Apparently, the world is ending again.

It seems the apocalypse is on repeat.

I swear it ended in 2012

when the calendar sat unwritten,

we all melted under a supernova sun.

It was mostly fun

so, it will be sad

to see it all become atoms

in the mourning air.

I swear...

We've been here before

I’m sure death

was knocking on our door

When CERN pressed

the trigger on the world's core.

It seems the end days are looping,

a never-ending cycle of endings

wending their way through

our confused existence

just trying to find the beginning

like scratching at Sellotape

with no fingernails.

It is looming. Apparently.

Somewhere in the shade.

I swear we witnessed the world in flames

when heaven’s gate failed to open.

When Jonestown drank the poison down.

The afterlife seems

a bit of an afterthought,

we seem to just be caught in a loop

of bad news and cultist views.

The prophecy is written

in vanishing ink,

it blinks a date then

disappears into the breeze

to never be spoken of again.

But the end is coming...

They keep warning

and people keep falling

for the alarm bells calling.

How will it come?

A comet crashing us off course?

A galactic invasion force?

A monster from the depths?

A tidal wave of unexpected breadth?

Or maybe we will be raptured

floating to some other place?

It seems that this will be my last verse

as the end is coming to our universe.

Will it be Galactus coming to devour us?

I suppose I’ll never know

as I’ll sleep and wake up

long after the apocalypse

has been and gone

and I’ll go and walk

in the autumn sun.

Searching for words

to share from my heart,

even if I’m the last person

to walk this earth.

But in all seriousness

the end is coming

if we don’t look after

what we call home.

If we feed on hatred

instead of loving,

we risk becoming

the scythe in Death’s hand

swinging away the remaining days.

If we spend more time worrying

about income and flashy cars,

If we keep fighting unjust wars.

If we keep drilling our earth

for every last resource.

Then our time in the sun

will fade, I’m sure.

Daisy chain in a garden of dreams

I can never let go of hope.

of the dream

that swims my mental sea.

I can never let it go,

or let my thoughts

elope without me.

I can only hold out

my hand to yours.

I’ll worship on the floor,

will you take it please?

You are the stream

I wish to stand beside

when the river rolls, the storms roars

and the bell tolls.

I will never allow

the candle to burn out.

I keep the flame ticking away,

even as the clock passes the days.

I sway in doubt, back and forward,

do I say what I wish to say

or let the clouds shout the words

I keep with me

in a notepad glittering

with love.

I let the spring

turn to summer

and still I lay,

hands outstretched for you

to pick like a daisy chain

in a garden of loves dreams.

I’ll wait through winter too,

just wishing

on the beautiful moon

that my heart

will beat for two.

I can never let go of a dream

as it wistfully plays

in my minds fingers.

Drifting like swaying waters

over my subconscious.

As it lingers

in the breath of the air,

a thought bubble

swiftly sharing your image

so I know you are always there.

I can never let go of my heart,

for its beats are the strongest part of me.

It crashes in rhythm with the loving sea,

it feeds the mind with memories

and floods the body with hope

in every pulse of its being.

Inside it is singing.

A song of loving, of longing,

of knowing where it belongs.

In the arms of the one

whose memory can never be

torn from the pages of the book

that this poet will write.

Notepad

I carry with me

a notepad

dusted in

snowflake love

and

a longing

daydream

of an endless sea.

An endless sea where we

can part the waves

and dance until our feet

beg for sleep.

Everything else

I’ll happily

leave behind.

The notepad gilded

in gold leafed

memories.

The moon song

sung beautifully.

The dreams

lifted from life stories,

I could write them

in sparkling ink

but the stars

would fall

right from

the page.

The waves I feel tugging at me,

pulling me to be

by your side wherever

you may be waiting for me.

The lullaby sounds of gulls

lulls my mind

but my heart sings loud,

and on the page,

I write it all down.

I carry with me a hope

in the shape of the moon

that smiles beautifully for you.

A hope I never held before.

A hope that you

will hold me soon.

I hold love

in a heart-shaped frame,

a name hidden

in ink spilled upon the page.

The page that soaks every emotion

in splashed rumbling waves.

An ocean of paper,

a boat of words

searching for a shore

to set anchor and call home.
