We lay down on the cool grass,
watching jealous stars shooting past.
We held on tight to the skin
of this spinning planet.
Fingernails digging in.
As if any movement
could fling us, space bound.
Before long
our hands stopped clinging on.
No longer digging deep trenches in the ground
because our hands
are searching for each other.
Explorers trying to find
buried treasure, traveling all over new lands.
We gaze into reflective eyes,
all we can see are vast universes.
You and I. Mesmerised
by the starlight twinkle inside.
Constellations that span
far and wide. As the earth spun so fast.
We forgot that time passed.
As we lay, breathing.
Captivated by the way
the starlight felt like fingers teasing.
On that cool grass
watching the stars slowly fade.
As night so quickly became the day.
This planet could be
somewhere in a different galaxy.
It could be anywhere.
We had not a care.
We could be careening
towards space waterfalls,
and the only name I'd call is yours.
For there in that moment
we had each other.
Two hands clasped together,
two hearts tethered.
Entangled limbs. A tree in the dawn light.
Held tightly
as close as we could be,
swimming deep in the lakes
of each others eyes.
Two hearts feeling
their beats synchronise.
Feeling the warmth
of our eternal suns burning.
We clung on, together.
The world keeps on turning.
we embrace,
two bodies interfaced.
the cool grass watched
as we flew into space.
The sun rose over the horizon,
we flew on that kiss, that embrace.
shared on the cool grass.
on that unique day.
