As the rust shaded sunset
and copper skies
drape themselves over
the river rise
would you offer you lips
for my dehydrated mouth to taste?
Would you look into my eyes
and see the light
that is dimmed inside?
Would you watch it reignite
like a boiler
being brought back to life?
Would you offer your heart
and let the magenta waters
of time hypnotise?
As the rusty sky
beckons on a sultry night
and the sun sets down
into the waterside
would you offer you hand
for me to hold?
I’m unsteady on this spinning globe
and my damaged heart has grown so cold.
Would you sit and watch with me
the aura of night settling in?
The stardust scene, a majestic setting
just you and me in the midst of a dream.
Would you offer your love
like a blanket of stars?
For us to lay beneath
and whisper our stories
to the ears of the universe
and would you listen
as the planets converge?
As the rusty evening
becomes a memory
and the moonlight
gives us glimpses
at her story, will you stay?
For endings
are too hard to take
when the beauty of you
eclipses the view
our eyes partake.
Would you fall into
my wide-open arms
So I can memorise
the feeling of you
against my skin?
As we fall so deeply
into love
whilst we let the waters
set our hearts apace.
