I don’t associate with that flag.
Not when it is being used for hate.
It could be any rag,
A faded bloodstain
from where you tried in vain
to wipe clean the pain
inflicted by your hands,
but a stain always remains.
No scrubbing will get it clean.
Our history painted in red from veins
of those you thought lesser than you.
You have a superiority complex
over a tiny stretch of green
on a big sphere of blue,
I see the whole world
and I see the beauty of it all.
Why not also take in the view?
I don’t associate with St George.
I don’t see our conquests as good.
Instead, I have a heart and will raise my voice
when I see that bad that it does.
I was born here without choice,
just circumstance and fate.
I don’t see that as reason
to wave a flag as a way to provoke hate.
I only see the hurt and suffering of
our fellow human beings
throughout our past.
The blood which you thought
was weaker than yours
held more love than your weak
hearts ever could.
You don’t speak for us all
when you talk of deportation
and supposed British values.
The only British values I see
are causing hate and misery,
theft of other lands and priceless items.
Whilst saying they aren't welcome to stay.
And these are values
I don’t want associated with me.
We need more kindness
in humankind. More love, more unity,
not a wall to divide.
I don’t see national pride
in supporting any isms,
in closing our doors to those in need,
to watching on as people plead,
begging for some help
or a supposed better way of life.
All I see is an aching chasm of hate,
and it’s getting wider every day,
because too many sheep
listen to the lies the bigots say.
Put that passion into love instead,
the things we are good at,
the humour, the music,
the art that floods our streets.
Not into making
other people feel lesser
for wanting to share it all with you.
So, fuck the flags, and fuck our borders.
Fuck Farage and fuck Keir Starmer.
Fuck those Tories in Labour clothes,
none of these will ever get my vote.
In fact, fuck all the right leaning war loving
shit stirrers, and anyone who follows them
like lemmings leaping blindly
over the white cliffs of dover,
I’ll be here enjoying life,
with my fellow humans,
not demons in disguise.
