Life can really fucking hurt sometimes.
When every part of it starts to warp,
like a piece of plastic dropped into a burning pit,
a replica heart, gurgling and distorted.
It can suck the air from your bubbling lungs,
it can cut into every sterile smile, feeling like
the sides of your mouth are bleeding
globs of acid down your chin
and it can burn a hole deep in the heart until
your whole internal system feels like its failing.
You start flailing,
flapping at the air, trying in vain to fly away,
trying to take flight just to be
anywhere but here. To be a paper plane
thrown to the birds. No destination,
just anywhere the wind takes you.
It can really hurt, like a splinter of ice
stuck under the surface,
of every inch of your skin.
It clings onto you from inside,
Freezer burnt to the organs,
in a vice like grip,
and stretches you out until you
feel your body is going to split.
Pouring all of your stored up emotions
onto the dirty concrete floor.
It can really
fucking hurt.
And love,
love
can be worse.
The pain that comes
when a heart sees nothing in yours,
just an empty husk, devoid of worth.
A piece of dirt only fit to join the earth.
But however painful,
however much life
can sting. Here's the thing...
There is so much more
if you just keep searching,
if you let the sunlight in
when darkness is what
you think you are craving.
