Only a heartbeat away - napowrimo 41

When we rip out all of the self

and become one with the air,

when we displace the worry

about how we look, what we wear,

the money that disappears somewhere.

When we stop trying

to fit the controlling looks,

when we stop trying

to tick the right box,

it all becomes wavy and free.

The heart beats a little more easily.

When we set fire

to the old beliefs and

see the beauty

inherent in this world,

when we turn to love

instead of hurt and abuse,

the story of your life

finally starts to come true.

The way love can take you

by the hand and help you float free.

How the worlds colours all run.

When we let love be.

I’m talking human chemistry,

the way we can connect

and feel as one without

ever touching skin.

With love to hold on to,

the way our minds

hold each other,

through the words within.

When we disrobe the self-doubt,

drop the restraints of how

we are supposed to look,

when we just drift into

the ethereal bliss of togetherness.

None of this matters,

for this is a world where

hearts and souls connect.

When we dispose of the programming,

the language dampening our potential,

we have so much more to offer.

We are elemental,

we are fire, earth, water.

We are air, and when we bare our hearts

we are the happy tears of another.

We are colour. A spectrum so divine

that rainbows only come out

when our world goes grey.

When we drift into the aether

it is sublime. When we explore together,

letting the wonder of affinity

become your new infinity,

drifting deeper into each other.

I’m not talking of skin touching skin,

but our conversation waltzing

through the swirling storms.

When we drop all pretences and

let our egos fly away, then everything

starts to make more sense.

So, close your eyes for a moment.

Breathe, and believe in the calm,

take my hand, and forever

is only a heartbeat away.
