Delayed trains

People have always made fun of me,

probably still do in their social cliques.

They speak of how I'm oblique,

that my words sound pretentious,

or that I'm lost in space.

Labelled a freak, a weirdo, a geek.

A million other names... Never Kyle.

But you missed the part

where I'm the one that is unique,

whilst you mirror a room

of solitary hollow views.

I'm weird, it's true. Quirky, awkward.

I stumble over things others say with ease.

Tripping over a flurry of words,

but finding them soft to land within,

a furry blanket of safety.

My trains may be delayed, my drivers on strike,

but I'll stand proud for my life is mine.

I struggle with the easy, yet pile on

the hard just to pass the days.

Yet you question my sanity?

As if you are not the insane one

following the same blocked-off pathways.

It's more sane to live happy

than perpetually grinding your teeth

at perceived threats to your manliness,

or the way that I decide to live.

I take those words spoken behind my back,

arrows sharpened, ready to attack,

and throw them back with precision and tact.

I have a galaxy of ideas, a headful

of unmapped dreams. A heart full

of uncharted rivers, formed from tears

hidden in streams. The waves I've ridden

rage with more pain than you could ever

begin to understand. But I withstood it all.

Never bowing to the waters - I accepted them in.

In your circled whispers, you raise a giggle.

But I create universes, and in them all,

I laugh aloud.

So laugh. I'll laugh back.

Your attacks lack finesse.

In my defence, when life replays my story,

I'll see that through it all

I held onto my smile. I didn't sit on the fence,

repeating a mantra of hate.

I spoke instead of the love flowing in my veins.

Call me anything. I don't care.

I wear my skin with pride,

love myself inside out.

No amount of snide comments

will dampen my flood on this world.

I'll keep going the extra mile

even when my feet are torn shreds.

When my dreams get worn thin,

I'll never give in. I'll just find a new pathway

to begin the trek again.

Unbound book covers

I have a world on my mind

and love on the lips,

and I just need some quiet

to unwind, some kindness,

to slip inside, a book cover,

unbound, to find the peace

and love I hold inside.

For I'm blinded by the light

of so many stars. But I bask in

colour.

I just want to shine happiness

on those that whisper to me.

And all the thoughts that rush

through my overgrowing forest,

those lush romantic syllables

ambling hand in hand through

the brush, a crush would be easy

to squash, but love only falls

from the stars that shine so light.

And I wonder aloud.

Is wandering allowed?

Are these private woodlands

that I've clamboured into?

Am I trespassing through dreams

I shouldn't be able to view, memories

that belong to the universe, not me?

And I see the code of the universe,

zeros and ones, heroes been and gone,

stories that are ticking along

in a gentle rhythm of time,

a clock hand spinning next to mine,

some stories that are almost done,

and others that haven't yet begun.

And in this static, I briefly see a face,

a name on sparkling sublimity.

A smile. A flame. Infinity. A whisper

of a dream, or a witness

to the strings that tie us.

And I hear right here

a song calling my name.

Is it real?

Am I voyeur to destiny?

And if so,

is it her song I hear

singing gently

healing refrains

in a rainbow

on the wind?

Is it real?

I place my foot and feel

the leaves beneath my toes.

The dew tickles, and soothes.

And I know that I'm not dreaming,

and my eyes are wide open,

like my arms never closed.

Today, tomorrow and days to follow

I feel sounds surge through

my aching muscles. Revitalising,

easing, purging the pain.

Every nerve buzzing in harmony,

a bee to honeyed melodies

rising to the cadence

of time's rolling sea.

The urge, a revelation,

magic invoking limbs

to feel the life I hid inside.

A music box of memory

spilling its secrets in mystical melody,

casting spells over air, pushing arms

upwards - elation, praising

the divinity of love's invitation.

I pray... Take me. I'm yours.

And now my wavy hands are plucking

stars from the ethereal sky, grounding them

into fine wine. Picking tones like stones,

washing them clean in ephemeral streams

to form glass to hold it in.

A vessel of devotion, stem full of dreams.

A rose blossom chalice

of love's scented scenes.

And I'll hand you a drink,

bubbling with effervescent promise.

Take my hand. Crystalline memories

taste sublime when lips join in cheers,

sipping the passing of time.

A kiss radiating with the weaving magic

of tonight, tomorrow and days to follow,

whispers sharing sanctuary

in all the future sustenance

it holds inside.

And I unfurl a dream. A swirling world,

me and you, a beachside view,

starlight sifting sunset eyes.

I hold onto that image - shivers

down my spine, completely enamoured.

The alluring way your heart speaks to me.

The song it sings. The music it plays.

And when the moonlight colludes

with the ocean view, I'll hand you a box.

Every memory I saved for you.

A gift of music, the song, my heart,

twirled into being by hands

of the unseen ever-seeing Love

within all of us.

And I dance

the dance of the universe,

a crushed diamond flowing verse.

I sing its words of unity, feel

intense hope flooding me,

and I hand my heart enshrined

in committed crystal light. For

it belongs to you and no other.

And in the moonlight of the evening,

the song is on repeat, again and again.

For love continues to turn, like the

earth spinning a dance of her own.

Life is here - we just need to let

our hearts dance to its mystic beat.
