All lies

arise

see the look in dead eyes

doubts sown in voices

intoned with false highs

 all lies

some surprise

when you see so much

yet your heart never flies

always grounded

happiness in short supply

All lies

liars don’t hide

they paint themselves tall

with colourful signs

pride themselves on how many fall

for their jagged lines

the perfect crime

a murder of trust

poisoning of hope

a robbery of love

All lies

so, don’t expect me to stand by

watching the sky fall and tears stall

I don’t have the time

to become a victim of this hurt tonight

I have too much stored in my pantry

in my mind sanctuary

my shadowed hallway

lined with boxed thoughts I threw away

in my garden overgrowing

in my kitchen the taps of pain are left flowing

All rise

to look in the eyes

of those whose lies dampened your sunrise

don’t sigh

don’t despise, don’t despair

nothing is beyond repair

be wise

find eyes that look back with care

with arms wide open that want to share
