Lights out

When the lights go out over the town
darkness shrouds in blackened clouds
feels like the only way is down
sometimes the brightest lights fizzle out
like shooting stars in the atmosphere
but you still watch the skies
hoping they will reappear

The streets become ghost towns
the world a wasteland, barely a sound
loneliness the only shadow that follows around
feels like the only way is down
sometimes the blinding light
is just a flash, a lightning strike
never to hit again
but you still await the stormy rain

The stars turn off, one by one
the moon long gone
it's easy to forget that the sun once shone
feels like the only way is down
sometimes the dazzling glow is just a show
like fireworks sent to amaze
entertain and take your gaze
but you still watch every light burst
with eyes that appraise

Disillusioned by mental confusion
the illumination was a mere illusion
to illustrate a mental state
as the lights flicked off
inside my head, left in the dark
feels like the only way is down
and sometimes there is no light to be found
but still you search all around

Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love.
Kyle.
