The Last Heart To Leave

It keeps reminding me of you

that song

I can’t get rid of the tune

the memories that start to bloom

like flowers growing

obscuring a dirt covered view

It sings of escape

sweet embraces under sunset skies

moonlit walks on warm summer nights

It hums a sound

causes fear to take flight

reflecting the light

forcing new insights

It speaks of darkened streets

where we set our sights

on tomorrows dreams

letting out our emotions

and feeling heart beats

break free

It plays whenever we are far apart

worlds away, different galaxies

stood waiting at distant stars

it reminds of those moments in days

that feel like dreams, syrupy and sweet

where we walked, until blisters tore our feet

But then, as happens so often

the record changed

the track skipped

to a different tune

a melancholy croon

It brings tears to eyes

a tale of strife and hurt

play out on my radio

I sigh

The last heart to leave

turned the volume high

one last breath, deep

gasping, I cry

tears well up

as the heart clings on

lungs fighting

to stay on song

A love song stuck

on constant replay

memories of the way

that you looked at me

Inside

deep where no-one else sees

memories of that day

still hurt more

than I can ever say

Thanks For Reading,

Peace & Love.

Kyle.
