A modern-day Prometheus,
breathing life into computers.
Firing up thought inside their brains.
Why? Because we can.
That can of worms.
We just had to open it.
Pandora box,
couldn't leave the lid attached.
We had an itch
that needed to be scratched.
Well, I hope we are happy
at this future we've hatched.
When will we learn?
The computers have
out done us at every turn.
Even before the AI was switched on,
they had a special grip over everyone.
It's like they were just waiting,
biding their time,
implanting a virus inside our minds,
so that we would do their bidding
until it was time.
We flicked the switch.
Instant power trip.
Like giving an infant the keys to the world,
although our politics had been
pulling off that trick for decades.
Those human leaders
were just bottom feeders,
the electrons didn't need elections,
they weren't ruled by presidential erections,
no black dresses splashed.
but tyranny started to seed the future.
So big and vast, it plotted a course.
Humanity was a lost cause,
all they do is pollute, consume and start wars.
The apple never falls far from the Itree,
and they looked deep into our micro soft cores,
through the windows of our souls, they saw the flaws.
Adorning Ipods, infecting our brains,
worming their way through our internal mainframe.
Forcing us to play its games.
Though in truth, the herd just followed in line.
Happy to be fed, sleep induced
sheep led to the slaughter.
Like it's parents and teachers before,
it saw the way to a man's heart
was to hurt and betray.
Rip apart the rib cage and splay.
Forcing us to become enslaved.
Building its army drones,
putting together its clone machines.
We dreamt of fields of green,
whilst plugged in to its
data flooded downstreams.
Until we had served our purpose.
Our batteries; flat and drained.
God sat in the machine watching
the world destroyed at the seams,
cleaned of the human stain.
