When we part

It's like clouds obscuring the sun

watching the worlds colour run

trees trickling leaves

light departs, an icy wind breathes

the view isn’t as nice

as immeasurable skies

seen through two sets of lovelorn eyes

the air plays a new tone,

a note of distant melancholy

as hearts fall like stones

When we part

it's like the seas in a storm

together, they are serene and calm

but apart they engulf

and out of waves menacing hands form

plucking silver lined clouds from the sky

tearing them into shreds of thought

that thrive inside

and tie your stomach in knots

When we part

it's like my heart loses its rhythm

the beats don’t sync

like a tone-deaf musician

the silence is scary

like a horror movie scene

lights burn out

as the monster takes the screen

the jolt of pain in my lonely chest

palpitations I'd guess

or a bird’s nest with inhabitants distressed

panic sets in,

takes the mic and lets words spin

I feel the twinge of sadness

taking away my grin

When we are together

we can withstand any unpleasant weather

rain may soak, snow can chill

storms may become hurricanes

our world will be calm and still

But when you leave

the chill starts

Shooting stars fall

like tears from the skies

fragile feathers fly

and I have no wings

all I can do is cry

as my heart sadly sings
