Long-forgotten summers

Miss those long-forgotten summers
as sun kissed music lifted us
wandering for hours
not a care unfurled
when all that mattered was our own little world
those distant days and blissful nights
drunkenly talking till the morning light
as on the radio the tunes played
Oasis, Blur, Pulp, the Britpop years
soaking into our ears

I miss those singalong memories
when the sounds touched our heart energies
we would spend our days in awe
looking out at the world as something to explore
we had energy, a passion to live
we didn’t need anything; we would take all the world could give
the streets, fields
playgrounds of asphalt hidden and concealed
concrete and dirt
football on parks, drunk after dark
not in fear of getting hurt

I miss those schoolyard highs
laughing during lessons we despised
running through life
always chasing after a dream
we made every second a scream
I miss those friends
that we swore would stay forever
now long forgotten
faded faces seen through foggy weather

The days did end, and nights fell
we lost our ways, some walked through hell
but I will forever miss the memories
those lost days so summery
when the radio played songs like
Common people, Live forever, Caught by the fuzz
our lives were always a buzz
those days when our youthful hearts danced
and the nights when we felt entranced

Thanks For Reading.
Peace & Love
Kyle
