We are formed from fire and ice,
stardust and comets.
We explored the cosmos
in a previous life.
Burning suns,
blinding lights.
That all still lives inside
in the molecules that collide.
We are still wide-eyed explorers
where all we seek
is found just a step to the side.
We are dust and ashes
blowing through a galactic sunrise.
We just ignore how connected we are
to the universe outside.
We hide in our little worlds,
following herds to the same
worn down pastures,
when so many new experiences
are just a step to the side.
Look up. What do you see?
Just blackness?
Or perhaps you see a canvas
on which to paint, in neon lights,
a ballroom for us to dance,
when we feel the high
of the cosmic music
that plays from all the worlds
that lay just a step to the side.
We are stardust confetti
mixed with the universal threads,
like spaghetti curled around a fork in the road,
drizzled with a tomato sauce to die for.
We live to be more,
not just to walk the same beaten path
we have walked a million times before.
Not to fight, not to hate or start wars,
but to love all there is, it’s not that hard.
We are meant to explore, not just outside
but within, take a hold of your feelings and
let your fingers trace the reasons,
the meanings. Let yourself step to the side
and look with a new perspective at life.
