Aligned hearts

Our lives aligned, in love and kind.

Signs scattered, splintered across

time, spectres of a distant history,

in the delicate lines of printed poetic

symbolism, pretty on the eyes and

ears, but so much deeper in mind.

I send my words out into the wild

woods, this deep space backwater,

in search of your words so they can

share in this loving cosmic embrace.

The planets shifted across our skies,

the dance enlightens the ballroom of night.

I saw the love kept behind your eyes,

the love that lies deep in your heart.

I let it flow into me, as I sunk into it.

As one love combined to become light

of the brightest kind, we became stars.

On the night, our hearts touched the air.

Our planets aligned,

the stars twinkling

to the sound of our

sweetened hearts

as they beat a tune

outshining the moon.

Two beats of one shared heart

rippling through the thinning air.

A sentiment of home spoken in

the cold night-time atmosphere.

Warming souls heat the earth like

radiators of love, turned up high.

As the planets blinked in the deep

blackness of this magic night sky.

Don't be fooled

Don't take my quiet exterior

as a guide, or let it fool,

deceiving you into trying to

take me for a ride,

tricking you into believing I'm weak,

or my heart barely tickles inside.

I've conquered demons

so much bigger than I can speak.

Inside a fire burns brighter

than the sun in the sky.

I may be shy,

but naive? Not on your life.

I've walked so many paths,

I could cause demons to blush.

I've rushed headfirst into storms,

just to feel the cooling rain

wash down my burning skin.

I may seem distant to you,

A lone wolf howling silently

to an uninterested moon,

but if you open up to me,

I'll bloom like a flower.

Grow tall like a tree.

I speak when I need to,

not just to be heard over you.

I'd rather devour your words

than pour like a raincloud

destroying your truth.

I may sit in shadows,

A prisoner of the heart,

but I'm not a monster to fear.

I’m not there to cause endless nightmares

or give a scare. I’ve walked stride by stride

with the watchman of night at my side.

I just prefer to keep my heart here,

until I'm certain it won't be broken,

becoming a burden that I have to carry

upon my journey.

I may sit silently over seasons,

I'm just inviting you to fill the air,

so I can breathe your words of pure luxury.

It's not lost on me

that my silence often stops me

from finding true happiness in my story,

but sometimes I've said all I need to say,

It may sit in the pages of a poem

that has been lost in the mists of time,

but the lines we set, tracks were laid,

way back in our lifeline.

The times I spoke of love, it flowed for you,

with a riverside retreat all set up

in a lyrical picnic for two.

So, I may see quiet at times,

I may seem scared, because I am.

Scared of losing that

which is special,

A kind heart

in a world full of scams,

but don't take my silence

for a lack of care,

I have lakes of love flowing in here.

I have mountains of thought, offering up

a loving embrace. I have a voice that I use

when I find the right space and I have a heart

that so wants to race.

Amongst the fallen leaves

I find a home within

the falling leaves,

the torn pages of history

that land at my feet.

I build a nest from the remains,

plucking the best parts

to shield from today.

Maybe I was born

in the wrong timeline,

if I’d walked in the

countryside that inspired

words to be picked

like delicate fruit

from a vine.

Would my heart pour easier

like a fine wine?

I find little fragments of stories,

stuck in the hard-to-reach places

high in the trees.

I stretch and reach,

to tease them free,

until they become

a part of my little nested city.

You see I've built a whole country

from all the strands I find,

I plan to plant mountains soon,

and new forests

to replenish

the words over time.

I have rivers flowing,

watering the seeds

plucked from my mind.

There is a whole ecosystem,

plants living and breathing,

and the animals

that weave between them.

All feeding the ground,

this big old town,

crowded with new words

to throw around.

And now I stand

upon a world of stories,

I realise it's not that different

from the world outside.

Those stories have always lived

in the trees, in the people

that weave in and out of your life,

like the breath you breathe,

leaving

but only after giving you

the air you need

to feed the stories inside.
