A land where grim fairy tales
and nightmares hail you in,
Smoke and mirrors shimmer,
leading to a place called nowhere,
where rainbow lights
glisten and glimmer
like a twisted funfair.
But don't be fooled
by the bright lights
or the colourful sights.
This is a land of darkness,
where vicious beasts
lurk in the night.
Staircases lead off
in all directions,
physically impossible
to navigate.
Surrounded by
vast empty holes,
where no light
can escape.
A waterfall of bright red,
flows up the walls,
like the room is spinning,
and blood is dripping.
Sudden growls echo
from the cavernous bowels below.
Through one doorway
a library,
aisles go on
for miles at a time,
over the horizon they dip.
Bookcases become doorways
at the touch of a spine.
They blur and shift
as the facade slips.
This palace of smoke and mirrors
never becomes any clearer,
like a world built of errors,
a maze of mistakes and
twisted grim heartaches.
In the distance
the howls
are getting louder,
Closer,
heavier,
prouder.
Time flows slower,
Sometimes it stops completely,
or reverses, like a tape
being rewound back to the start.
In this grim fairytale land,
you'll fear for your heart.
Where nightmares stand
in front of your eyes
and scream.
The tortured scream of so many bad dreams.
Skin from their faces dripping,
as they rip apart what remains,
leaving only the skeleton beneath,
and some maggot infested brains.
They keep you on your toes,
as you try to outrun,
always running,
never able to stop.
In this place called nowhere,
If you fall or stumble
it's your head for the chop.
