Real world

I was looking over,

I was wondering,

Was I mistaken?

Thought I caught a look,

that smile said more than

any open book.

In this dreamland hideaway.

I've seen you watching me.

Do you see me, or am I a ghost?

A floating vision at most

and in the real world,

the warped walls weep,

they cry as I sleep.

Did I ever enter your dreams?

Because you crossed mine

like a bridge spanning

the rippling waterways

of my mind,

and in the real world,

did you think about me?

Did you wonder, did you ponder?

Did your mind try to fathom?

Whether any of this was real.

or did your mind sometimes wander?

Stuck so long on a detail

that never seemed quite right.

Like a light switch

that turned on no lights.

a glitch in the reality of time,

a doorway with no room behind.

Did you ever think of me?

Did I stay long in your memory?

Like you stuck around in mine

I wonder, did I misplace time?

Because I'm sure it was 6pm

but now the clock is closing in

on midnight once again,

and in the real world

the clocks are spinning backwards.

Nothing seems real, the details are wrong,

The clock is now spinning zeroes

and I notice the anomalies

the window outside,

but no place for it to be.

There is no room,

doesn't make sense to me.

I saw you here before

wondering these streets.

This little dreamworld retreat.

I knew that again

our eyes would meet,

and in these colourful dreams

did you ever think you'd be

sat there looking over at me?

Did you wonder if maybe

I'd be, looking over at you

wondering the same things too?

Who knew. Destiny had set us up

to be sat in this place, just me and you,

and in the real world,

all the birds are chirping backwards,

warbling songs out of key.
