You are the sunlight shining
through a rainy sky,
against a wall of frowns,
withered eyes that follow around.
You are the smile
that beams out loud.
That says in hushed words
to not feel down,
to take the pain
and turn it into the power
to once again feel proud.
You are the touch
of a lover’s hand,
on the small of the back.
When it feels nothing will land,
and the pressures
are starting to stack.
You are the warmth
that keeps the fire burning.
The spark that
ignites insights and inspires
worlds to keep turning.
You are the warming hug
on a cold winter’s eve,
The soothing hot chocolate,
When the sun has taken leave.
When the world feels
lonely and cold,
when the only thing
that glitters isn't gold,
it's the heart growing old,
you are the one
that takes the hand to hold
and gives a gentle squeeze.
You are a breath of fresh air,
in a hateful breeze.
